UPSC Application Form

After UPSC notification is released, students can submit UPSC application form. There is a common UPSC form in which candidate can choose the exam he/she has applied for. The application forms are available in various post offices. The payment of fees for examination is done through Central Recruitment Fee stamp.

UPSC Civil Services

UPSC Civil services include number of services for various Government jobs in the country like Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Revenue Service, Indian Defense Accounts Service etc. To be Eligible for UPSC Civil Services Examination, candidate should have a degree from a recognized university. The candidate should be between 21 and 30 years of age.

UPSC entrance examination consists mainly of two parts - The preliminary round & the mains. As understood from the exam names, a candidates is required to qualify the preliminary examination and then move on to take the mains, on qualifying the prelims.The Civil Services examination is generally held in May.

Last date of submission of application form: First week of February, 2011

Date of Civil Services Examination: Third or last week of May, 2011

The preliminary examination for Civil Services has two papers. Of the two paper, both have multiple choice objective questions. Paper 1 is of general Studies and carries 150 Marks. The other paper has an optional subject which candidate can choose from the list of optional subjects. The paper has negative marking also.

UPSC Engineering Services

UPSC conducts Engineering Services Examination for recruitment in various Government organizations. The entrance examination CMSE is held for UPSC recruitment in various engineering posts. The examination consists of written test and Personality Test. The candidates who clear the written test are called for Personality test. To be eligible for this exam, candidate should have some specific years of experience and only candidates from civil, electrical and mechanical stream can apply. The exam is usually held in the first week of June.
