IGNOU is the most popular preferred distance education university in India. Established in the year 1985, the university has been dedicated to promoting education through Open and Distance Learning mode. The university offers 300 plus programs at various levels. Interested students can pursue studies at the IGNOU university at doctoral level, bachelors level, masters kevel, diplomas and certificates.
IGNOU Exam Schedule
In order to provide easy access to all students, IGNOU has a huge network of regional offices and study centers.1400 study centers across India have been set up to ensure that students from all corners of the country can take up the programs offered.
The exam schedule for the IGNOU programs is available twice in a year, once in April & the other time in October. The exam is conducted in February & August.
The admission announcement for the July session if of the bachelors program like BA, B.Com, B.Sc,BCA,BTS is made in May/June.
The national entrance exam for Bachelor of Education - B.Ed Correspondence
, Bachelor of Information Technology - BIT, Advanced Diploma in Information Technology - ADIT programmes is conducted in August.
Year round admissions are also available in IGNOU. Candidates can get admission forms from the offices and study centers. The forms can also be downloaded from the university website www.ignou.ac.in and they can be submitted by post or in person at the concerned office. The forms can also be submitted online.
IGNOU Assignments & Syllabus
The university offer 338 programmes . There is specific course for each course and students are advised to visit the website or contact the University for official, detailed syllabus.
The university website provides access to online assignments, question papers, prospectus and study material of various programmes. Recently, IGNOU FlexiLearn platform was launched to provide easy access to open courses to the students. With this, the courses are offered as open and anyone can get online access to them. The platform provides access to the IGNOU assignments and the learners can submit their assignments at the nearest IGNOU Study Centers for evaluation.
OPENMAT examination is for admissions to MBA, DIM,PGDIM, PGDHRM, PGDFM, PGDOM, PGDMM programmes and is held two times in a year. The session for MCA course begins twice a year January and July. MCA course comprises a total of 31 papers spread over 6 semesters including practical papers, two projects and three elective papers.

The student will have to enter nine digit enrollment number to access the result.
At the convocation, gold medals, degrees and diplomas are awarded to the eligible candidates and simultaneously at the Regional centers through teleconferencing. The 21st IGNOU Convocation was held in March 2010 at New Delhi. The convocation was telecast live on Gyan Darshan. Around 1, 33,624 students were eligible to get their Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the convocation.
