The Eindhoven University of Technology was established in the
year 1956 by the Dutch government. It is an international level research and
design oriented technical university which aims to provide world class
engineering and IT related educational programs to its students. Its total
student strength is 7,200. The university is located in the center of Eindhoven,
the Netherlands. Its unique location makes it privy to some important contacts
with a number of international companies that are active in the IT field, such
as Philips, ASML and DAF. The university has partnerships with several other
universities which include the prestigious Brain Bridge with Zhejiang
University, PRC.
The Eindhoven University of Technology, the Delft University of Technology and
the University of Twente together form the ‘Federation of 3 Universities of
Technology’. This grouping is aimed at building up the position and reputation
of Dutch universities within the global education domain.
Eindhoven University of Technology is credited to having produced nearly 3000
scientific publications and over 40 patents. The university has also conferred
nearly 140 Phd awards till date. It offers a host of Bachelors, Masters and
Doctorate programs related to engineering sciences. Besides this, the Eindhoven
University of Technology also offers business oriented programs through the
TiasNimbas Business School. The university was distinguished with a third rank
by the European Commission report [2] in the year 2003. This ranking is based on
the quality of its scientific research. It was also ranked as the Netherlands
top university in The Times Higher Education Supplement World University
Ranking, 2006.
The university has its main campus in Eindhoven. The campus offers a world class sports facility for the benefit of its students. Additionally, all the main faculty and department buildings are located within the campus vicinity. Students can spend their leisure time in the various cafes, restaurants, cinemas and cultural places that are located in and around the campus area.
